The great thing about Greenpoint is that there isn’t a shortage of vintage shops to hunt in. And, many of the owners are smart, sweet, and sassy. I can say the same thing for the store, Mind / Matter (165 Greenpoint Ave) is a vintage lover’s dream. More so, the owner, Elle Ditta, is charming and knowledgable.
I recently sat down with Elle to discuss her new store and why it’s a perfect sanctuary for all vintage enthusiasts. (Hint: oh-so-sweet clothes, beauty, and retro furniture). Continue reading →

We know Greenpoint is beautiful. It’s rough, polished, complicated, uneven, ugly, and pretty all the same. It’s not surprise that the magical boutique and brand, Gypsy Warrior, thought the same. The store for darklings took on Greenpoint and Williamsburg for it’s perfectly sweet, sassy, dark witch vibes. Continue reading →
Duke’s Annex is on point lately. They mindfully curate the latest and greatest artisanal pop-up shops. September’s shop is Judi Rosen, featuring rocking denim, t-shirts, dresses, skirts, jumpers, and more. Go snag some fantastic women’s ready-to-wear just in time for fall! See you home slices at the opening party.
One of the great things about writing for Greenpointers is occasionally getting to watch dreams transform into reality.

He was shivering on the doorstep of a Wythe Avenue construction site, kindly waiting to greet me and explain his zany vision for a spicy future. He was part-way through a Kickstarter campaign, with the hope of raising enough funds to turn said construction site into a hot sauce tasting room and events space, complete with the world’s first hot sauce sommelier. Cacao Market opened this week on Guernsey street and is the newest venture by Maribel Lieberman, the Honduras-born owner of Soho’s chocolate boutique MarieBelle New York.
The new Greenpoint store is housed beneath the existing MarieBelle chocolate factory, which has been quietly churning out sweet treats since 2004. When the downstairs space recently became available it seemed the perfect opportunity to open a Brooklyn outlet. Continue reading →
The late great Robin Williams once said “Spring is nature’s way of saying ‘Let’s party!'” So we’re thinking this year’s brutal winter overstayed its welcome as nature’s cue for a massive celebration.
Celebrate Spring with us on Sunday, April 26th, 2015, 1-7PM at the Greenpoint Loft (67 West St, 5th Fl).
We’ll have plenty of Strawberry Gin courtesy of Brooklyn Gin and craft beer by Greenpoint Beer & Ale on the ready for toasting throughout the day. Specially brewed for this market is “Rabbit Island,” a modern New Zealand inspired pilsner with tropical fruit notes and white grape. It will be served alongside “Fisticuffs,” a malty, creamy, easy day drinking English dark mild with hints of cocoa and bread crust. Continue reading →
