Hot Sauce, Summer in the City: A Scorching Afternoon with Heatonist

Heatonist Founder Noah Chaimberg

One of the great things about writing for Greenpointers is occasionally getting to watch dreams transform into reality.

When I first met Heatonist founder Noah Chaimberg, it was on a bitter, snowy Sunday morning back in February. He was shivering on the doorstep of a Wythe Avenue construction site, kindly waiting to greet me and explain his zany vision for a spicy future. He was part-way through a Kickstarter campaign, with the hope of raising enough funds to turn said construction site into a hot sauce tasting room and events space, complete with the world’s first hot sauce sommelier. A Peep Inside Cacao Market : A Place Where Chocolate Dreams Come True

shelves_3_cacao_market_greenpoint_rosiedebelgeonneGreenpoint: home to craft brewers, small-batch ice cream makers, and luxury tea ateliers. And just when we thought things couldn’t get any more up-market, along comes the cherry on the top in the form of an artisanal chocolate shop.

Cacao Market opened this week on Guernsey street and is the newest venture by Maribel Lieberman, the Honduras-born owner of Soho’s chocolate boutique MarieBelle New York.

The new Greenpoint store is housed beneath the existing MarieBelle chocolate factory, which has been quietly churning out sweet treats since 2004. When the downstairs space recently became available it seemed the perfect opportunity to open a Brooklyn outlet. Continue reading

Craft Beer, Haiku, Strawberry Gin, Face Painting, Electric Wildflowers, 60+ Vendors, & more!!! Spring Market (4/26)

Spring-Market_noaddress_235pxThe late great Robin Williams once said “Spring is nature’s way of saying ‘Let’s party!'”  So we’re thinking this year’s brutal winter overstayed its welcome as nature’s cue for a massive celebration.

Celebrate Spring with us on Sunday, April 26th, 2015, 1-7PM at the Greenpoint Loft (67 West St, 5th Fl).

We’ll have plenty of Strawberry Gin courtesy of Brooklyn Gin and craft beer by Greenpoint Beer & Ale on the ready for toasting throughout the day. Specially brewed for this market is “Rabbit Island,” a modern New Zealand inspired pilsner with tropical fruit notes and white grape.  It will be served alongside “Fisticuffs,” a malty, creamy, easy day drinking English dark mild with hints of cocoa and bread crust.  Continue reading
