  6. Irene Flooding

    by Mark

Hope everyone is preparing for the big hurricane coming our way this weekend. Thought I’d post a map of the Greenpoint evacuation zones for a Category 2 storm like Irene, as it’s been difficult getting on the NYC.gov website due to all of the traffic. Make sure you have 5 days of food, plenty of bottled water, a battery powered radio, and a flash light or two in case we lose power for a few days. Stay Safe!

  7. Fox & Fawn

    by Justine

I’ve been a fan of Fax & Fawn pretty much since they opened last year. It’s a small vintage clothing shop that always has something I fall in love with. Shop partners Marissa and Beverly are real deal vintie lovers. The store has a great selection of wearable vintage that’s perfectly on trend and unique. Stop in and I guarantee you will find something you love and at a price you’ll love, too. Last winter I purchased a cute pair of black Minnetonka fringe boots for just $17. Score!

On this trip I was in the market to sell and trade. Fox and Fawn purchases gently worn vintage and designer items and offer 35% cash or 55% store credit on their appraised retail prices. No appointment necessary, walk-ins welcome Monday – Saturday: 12 – 7:30 and from 12-6:30 on Sundays.

Whittling down my own vintage stock, I brought in a couple of bags of clothes, and even though my sister spent more than half on some new threads, I still walked out of there with a tidy profit. Absolutely a solid place to get a fair price and not have to deal with the attitude at Beacon’s Closet or the long lines at Buffalo Exchange.

  8. 1,000lbs of Meat

    August 25, 2011 by Justine

Jordan emailed about t.b.d.’s upcoming 1,000lbs of Meat event this weekend. God, doesn’t that just sound awesome? Plus there’s a raffle benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project so you don’t have to feel all that guilty about gorging yourself of free food.

    Hi,

I’m writing to let you know about an event this Saturday in Greenpoint called “1,000lbs of Meat”. Basically, the folks at t.b.d. are going to grill up and give away 1,000lbs of burgers (and veggie burgers), hot dogs, Italian sausages, plus loads of sides & salads. While free food is great, there’s another part of the event that’s closer to my heart. They’ll be having a raffle to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project which is a non-profit dedicated to assisting injured service members. As a wounded warrior myself, I can attest to what a great organization it is.

    Thanks,
    Jordan Chase
