  3. Hi There

    October 28, 2010 by Justine

Hey Everyone, I’m Molly and I’ll be contributing every now and again with some the latest and greatest of what’s going on in the Greenpoint art scene. I’m talking painting, graffiti, sculpture, drawings, weird polish antiques, awesome flea finds — if there’s art (and free food/wine) involved, I’m there. I also write for an international art website called No New Enemies.

Ever wonder why McGolrick park smells better than McCarren? (Does it? It does.) Check out the Humanity Project’s perfume fountain sculpture in McGolrick Park. You’ve probably walked by 100 times and never noticed it. Homework assignment kids: Meander by and take a wiff! It’s up until November 6th.

  4. Hi Everyone!

    by Justine

Hey guys! So I’m Megan, and it turns out I am one of the new writers for Greenpointers. What’s up. I live by the other park, known as McGolrick and have lived there for the past three years. I really love it and I love seeing all the cool new changes happening around that area. I am excited to start writing here and covering all the things that interest me. SUCH AS: dog runs (awesome), cool free events (always awesome), new food ventures (yes please), and so forth. If you know something cool that is happening past McGuinness between Newton Creek and the BQE, by all means please share it! And then I can write and post about it! I have a tumblr where I post other things, mostly pictures and quotes that interest me. Well that’s about it for 10 pm at night! See you all back here!

  5. Shop the Hood: Pentatonic Music

    October 27, 2010 by Justine

Way back when they first opened, Kea posted about the new guitar shop coming to Franklin Street. Well it’s been a year and a half and Pentatonic Music is still here and hoping to spread the word about their little known music shop.

I am a big believer in shopping the neighborhood and with the holiday gift giving season just around the corner, it’s time to start making those lists. Hugo and Claude at Pentatonic Music can and will hook you up with the perfect gift!

  7. Quickie: CoCo 66 Expansion

    by Justine

According to Sound of the City, CoCo 66 says they are not closing down but instead expanding despite the Friday police raid. Straight from the managers mouth:

Apologies for the confusion yesterday. Briefly: after you and I spoke we had a meeting at Coco’s and we all decided that since some shows were already moving to other venues this week, just because they were worried, we would take this time now to take a couple days off and make some renovations to just kinda move forward and become a better venue with more space for people. So we are taking a couple days to do that. We were doing construction all night last night, and all day today, just in the back to have more space and do bigger and better shows.

The boys and girls over at Red Star Bar are holding their second annual beer fest. They always throw a good time in their incredible multi floor space. Worth a saunter over for sure.
