Word on the street is (literally, I saw this flyer posted on the street) a Giant Tag Sale is coming to 237 Franklin Street, this Saturday, May 29, and Sunday, May 30, from 9:00am-5:00pm.
Not sure what to expect at this point, but if you find yourself near Franklin and Dupont this weekend, swing by 237, where apparently you can also play pinball…
I hope this introduction finds you well. My name is Emily, and I’m the newest member of the Greenpointers blog.
My beat will cover new stores, retail sales, and the wealth of shopping options around town.
One of my hobbies is walking the streets of Greenpoint, and snapping photos of store fronts & notable nooks, so I’m always on the lookout for a new shop or interesting facade to document & share.
I’ve lived in Greenpoint for about two years, and I really love the community. It’s an interesting blend of quaint & quirky that I’m happy to be a part of.
As an official Greenpointer, I look forward to sharing shopping news with you, in hopes of enhancing all that Greenpoint has to offer.

Summerscreen is coming back! Mark your calendars for the July 7th opening with Say Anything (LOVE that flick!). The movies are free and take place the McCarren Park Ball Fields.
The L Magazine presents the 5th Anniversary of SummerScreen!
Wednesday nights at the McCarren Park Ballfields (Bedford and North 12th) 6pm-10pm
Over the last five summers, SummerScreen has lured thousands of Brooklynites out of their stuffy apartments with the promise of cold beer and classic movies under the stars. This year, we return to McCarren Park with a nod to our adolescent idols and crushes: Cusack, Bowie, Danes, Depp, Richards and Reeves.
Bring a blanket, drink beer, eat tacos and quote “Vaya con dios” with 3,000 other Patrick Swayze fans.
SummerScreen starts on Wednesday, July 7, at the McCarren Park Ballfields (corner of Bedford and North 12th). Gates open at 6pm, films start at dusk. Get there early to enjoy Happy Hour specials and live music.

Hello everyone – last weekend marked another entry in the ongoing life of the Greenpoint Food Market. If you haven’t yet been, it is a must! It happens the last Saturday of every month in the basement at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah on Russell Street. It’s a great way to sample the delicious food wares of a great many local vendors.
Here are a few shots I took with my fisheye lens at the event before running off with a juicy pork roll and a bag full of beef jerky… enjoy!
