But everyone is welcome and encouraged to come down to Warsaw on Saturday December 6th at 8pm for some food, fun and music. A donation or $20.00 per person and a new, unwrapped toy get you a buffet and live entertainment in two rooms. Not to mention the chance to see old friends and meet some new ones!

Entertainment Donated By:
Whatever Band
Pretty Ugly
Fat Cat Voodoo
Lord Urias
DJ’s Rick and Anthony from Parties On Point Entertainment
DJ Tommy Scudiero

The Greenpoint Lions Club has been serving the Greenpoint, Brooklyn, community for over 60 years.

During the past 18 years, the Lions Club has been able to purchase toys and winter coats to be distributed during the Christmas season to families of Greenpoint. The gifts are distributed through the St. Vincent De Paul society of St. Anthony’s Church. There is also a specific monetary amount given to the St Vincent’s society for a food basket program at Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter.

Throughout the year the Lions are called upon to assist in the purchase of eyeglasses, coats and specific needs of youth and families under emergency situations. We do the best we can to fill the requests. These kids and their families are in need and deserve our support. The Lions motto is, “We serve”, and we are hoping you will assist in our efforts.

Yours in the service of others,
Lion Thomas Scudiero MJF Chairman

Manhattan Avenue Gets Scrooged Update

I got some additional information and clarification on my previous post regarding the lights on Manhattan Avenue from current Lions Club Secretary Bud Maddenand via Tommy Scudiero. Sadly, there won’t be any lights this year kids, but as soon as I get a list of the stores on The Avenue that have contributed in the past, I will most certainly post them because the stores that DO help out the community deserve recognition and Greenpointers business!

First, the Lions did not foot the bill, we were able to collect enough money to pay for the lights from a limited number of merchants, the major effort for the Lions was having to follow up with a number of visits to collect the funds from a number of stores. True Rite-Aid and other major stores and professionals, did not contribute.

Unfortunately there will be no lights on the avenue as it is to late to have them put up. The lions club discontinued the effort and was unable to sign the contract to assure the payment. We are currently placing our efforts in fund raising to help those in need of our community. We did not lose money in this project, but it became to demanding of man hours to do and complete our want to serve those in need.

We did, and do, appreciate the support of the merchants, who participated the past few years. Many of the same merchants support the Lions Club efforts for the annual “Toys for Tots Party” through being shirt sponsors, food donations, etc. Many of the banks have allowed us to put toy donation boxes in their lobbies for collection prior to Christmas (the day after Thanksgiving to December 26th). Toys collected after Christmas are designated to be given to families throughout the year for birthdays when needed. We give year round this way.

(I will try to get the disc with the stores that did participate and pass it on to whom ever needs to see this by the end of this week, ok?). If you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you again Tommy, Bud and the Greenpoint Lions for all you do for Greenpoint!

Herik & Daisy 4Eva

Reality TV is a vice – but when it involves Greenpoint or even better yet a Greenpointer, you know I gotta be a part of it!

There’s a new VH1 show titled “Daisy of Love” being casted right now and a born and bred Greenpointer is trying out. Of course, his sister put him up to it but just the thought of him even having a shot makes me need to post this and just beg whoever reads this to take a minute and Vote for Herik!

Manhattan Avenue Gets Scrooged

Every year the stores along The Avenue are all asked to contribute towards the lights and electrical costs of the displays. But every year, more and more stores don’t pay. Last year the Greenpoint Lions club footed most of the bill as they always do and sadly, this year they cannot do it again.

Now although this year is a tough one for everyone, the fact is that this has gone on for many years. But The Greenpoint Lions, in all that they do for this community just can’t foot the bill this and that might mean no Christmas decorations for the Avenue. And can you believe that with TWO Rite-Aids on Manhattan Avenue even they don’t put a penny in the pot?

It would be great if in a tough time like this the stores along The Avenue could help out so an already bleak holiday season, isn’t made any bleaker.

Cause it would be a real shame if the local stores didn’t want to participate or give back to the community, but gladly take your holiday money.

A Plead To Glenn Close

So Saturday night I posted a personal post – it was up for 7 whole hours. It was old local Greenpoint stuff. I ran into a girl on my home Saturday night that I fought with last in 1992. She remembered me and I remembered her. Both of us drunk, a few words exchanged and I punched her in the face.

Not that I owe anyone an explanation, but things are done a little differently among us old schoolers. That was not assault and the girl just knows that she had it coming and now the shit is dead. If someone punched me in the face, I would just punch them back. I wouldn’t be a pussy press charges. And even though I don’t like this girl, I know she’s no pussy.

My post was about how good it felt after all of these years to finally get to kick her ass. And it got me thinking about another girl in the nabe that I had a similar problem with and how I wish I could’ve kicked her ass too. If you’ve ever been in a fight you know that shit gets your adrenaline pumping. I came home and wrote about it. Case closed.

Or so one would think. I posted it on Greenpointers instead of my personal private blog. Easy mistake, I was signed in under my personal email account and it just happened. I find it hard to believe that’s never happened to anyone else. I even posted a ‘correction’ the next morning. I was actually pretty surprised that I didn’t get any emails about people wondering – or rather assuming – who it was about. I was so glad to avoid the drama.

Until tonight.

I seriously do not know what it is I did to this Miss Heather person but she’s starting to scare me a little. A reader emailed this post of hers to me and I just really can’t believe how she’s that obsessed with me. I don’t even read her blog anymore because of the LAST crazy shit she pulled with me. It’s one thing to have someone who has the nerve to confront you and fight like a (wo)man but someone who skulks around and types and stalks you online is a totally scary thing.

My guess is she thinks that the post was about her because, uh, she’s completely self absorbed? I don’t know. I have a shitload of other things going on in my life besides “Miss” Heather. I have 33 years of knowing people in this neighborhood. I can barely walk two blocks without seeing someone I know. That’s friends and enemies. People who I have real beefs with, not whatever it is that we had.

I can’t believe that this woman is reading me constantly and waiting for me to write anything that she can try and morph into her. I sincerely can’t believe it. Miss Heather, do you want me to stop blogging? Is that it? Then will you leave me alone? Cause if that’s what it is, I’ll do it. It’s not worth it to have you writing and saying these hateful things about me and watching me like a hawk. I mean you know where I live – are you watching my house? I just don’t know, and it’s creeping me out.

I mean Jesus, do you see all the time she spent researching and taking screenshots and all sorts of nutty shit on that post? It’s really, really, really, creepy. And the thing is it’s not like I can just go over and kick her ass. You think I’m crazy? She’ll dial 911 and have me in arguing a misdemeanor in court for fifteen years for any scratch I give her. This is like that movie Fatal Attraction. She does all this crazy nonsense but God forbid if I ever tried to do something about it, she’d boil my bunny!

Look, this sort of stuff is sooooooo weird to me. I’m truly, truly uncomfortable with knowing how much you must watch me and I just want it to stop. I have no idea why you wrote that crazy post about me in August and I have no idea why you think that whenever I talk about someone negatively in my blog, I mean you. I don’t Heather. I don’t read your blog, which is why I didn’t even see this post until someone emailed it to me. It’s just tiring, Heather.

What is it that you want? What can I do to make you just get over it and go away?

And also, in true journalistic style I have a correction to ‘print’. A few of you might’ve spotted a post I made last night that was suppose to be for my personal blog. I was drunk and accidentally posted it to Greenpointers. Ooops! Technology too tricky at 3am.
