Unfortunately, the recent onslaught of ironic humor in popular culture is frequently enough to rub one’s nerves raw, and Mcdonald’s pieces fall a little flat. (If I see one more hipster kid who’s skinnier and shorter than I am dressed in a Wu-Tang T-shirt and Wranglers, I’ll scream.) Maybe Richmond — which really must rival the über-trendy Williamsburg area of Brooklyn in hipsters per capita — is just inured to this approach to life, making Mcdonald’s efforts to bring celebrity worship and horror movies under the microscope a little tame for our town.
I received an email a couple of days ago from a reader who’s promoting a petition to get the G Train to connect up to Atlantic Terminal. This is a good idea that’s been floating around lately and I guess it can’t hurt to sign it. Take a minute and do so.
Came across this adorable video from HBO’s Flight of The Conchords via Files of an Unorganized Librarian. Sweet little video featuring McGolrick (Winthrop) Park. Adorable!

Just heard about this show from Scenic and I suggest if you’re interested you buy your tickets now. Old school God Slick Rick will almost certainly sell out.
In addition to that, she’s also unearthed some info that another girl is a Brooklynite (ANTM has her hailing from New York, NY) and this one may be from or at least spent some time in Greenpoint! Claire Unabia’s MySpace page shows her from Hawaii by way of Brooklyn and in her pictures she shows “a view from Greenpoint” shot. Nice find there Stella!
I also heard a rumor that Lauren is actually living in Bed-Stuy so she’s got that real starving street cred artist thing going on now I suppose.
Gawker has a post today about how Williamsburg and Greenpoint turning into a place where the kids from the ‘burbs are coming to play instead of Manhattan.
I have to say that I saw this happening myself. Funny thing is they mention SEA and they’re completely right! Anytime I mention where I live, I almost inevitably get someone who’s been there – including my old boss from Staten Island. And in true fashion of locals not hanging where B&T’s do – I have not been to SEA in years.
